Many lab instruments (such as HPLC, LC-MS,

FPLC, ICP, and others) require use of volatile organic solvents which can be health and safety concerns for those working in proximity to these machines.

Because these are “active” systems — pumping solvent from one reservoir to the instrument and then to waste — a containment solution for both pure reagents and waste effluent must allow for air flow in or out of containers, while mitigating both evaporation and solvent fumes.
